5 Simple Ways to Support Your Nervous System This Week

Lately, I have been noticing something with so many people I talk to and honestly, in myself too. Life is not always chaotic in a big, obvious way. It is just… full.

Full of decisions. Full of responsibilities. Full of insignificant things that keep adding up until your days start to feel heavier than they should. And when you are in that place, it is easy to think the answer is to fix everything. To reset your routines. Get more organized. Start fresh on Monday. But most of the time, that is not what your body actually needs.

What your nervous system is asking for is something much simpler. It is asking for support.

Not a full life overhaul, just small shifts that help things feel a little easier. Because when your life feels even slightly more manageable, your body responds faster than you think.

So instead of trying to change everything this week, here are five ways to start supporting your nervous system right where you are.

  1. Reduce just one decision a day.
So much of what drains us is not big, it is the constant decision-making. Making those everyday choices such as what you will eat, what you will wear, and what is next in your day. When you simplify one part of your day, like repeating meals or sticking to a simple routine, you give your mind space to rest.
  2. Create a little more space between things.
Not a full schedule change, just small gaps. A few minutes before moving on to the next task. That pause matters more than you think. It gives your body a chance to come out of that constant state of rushing.
  3. Eat consistently.
It does not have to be complicated; it just needs to be steady. Eating regularly, even simple meals, helps stabilize your energy so your body is not constantly trying to catch up.
  4. Take a short daily reset.
This does not need to be anything big. A 5–10 minute walk. Sitting quietly without your phone. Stepping outside for fresh air. These small moments give your system a chance to come down from that constant state of “on.”
  5. Use your breath to reset in real time.
Something as simple as box breathing can help here. Inhale for four, hold for four, exhale for four, and hold again for four. That steady rhythm tells your body it is safe, helping your nervous system shift out of “fight or flight” and into a more settled, parasympathetic state where your body can rest and recover.

And maybe one of the most important shifts is lowering your expectations, just enough.

Not giving up on your day but releasing the pressure to do everything perfectly. Letting something be “good enough” can give you back more energy than trying to do everything at full capacity.

None of these are momentous changes.

But they are the kind of support your body actually responds to. Because when your nervous system starts to feel even a little steadier, everything else becomes more manageable.

Your energy feels more consistent. Your thoughts do not feel overwhelming. And your day starts to feel like something you can move through rather than something against which you are constantly pushing.

And if this resonates if you have been feeling stretched, tired, or like your days take more out of you than they should, you do not have to figure out how to support yourself on your own.

This is the work I do with my clients.

We take what feels overwhelming and start simplifying it. We look at your routines, your habits, your day-to-day life—and adjust it in a way that actually supports your nervous system instead of draining it.

Not more structure to follow perfectly. Not more pressure to keep up.

Just steady, realistic support that helps your life feel more manageable, more grounded, and more sustainable.

I would genuinely love to walk with you in that. You can book coaching here: 1:1 coaching with Coach Sherri.
