 How Planning and Preparation Accelerate Results

Setting goals and developing a strong mindset are the foundations for success. When it comes to achieving fitness and wellness milestones, failing to plan is planning to fail. A structured plan removes guesswork and excuses, setting you up for consistent progress.

 

The Power of Planning

 

Having a dedicated time mapped out for workouts and marking it as an appointment in your schedule creates an incentive to show up. Planning meals in advance ensures you have the right nutrition on hand, eliminating last-minute unhealthy choices. Trying to plan in the moment often leads to sabotage, as decisions become reactive instead of intentional.

 

Setting Goals for 2025

Every transformation starts with a clear set of goals. To be effective, your goals should be:

- Realistic – Achievable based on your current lifestyle and circumstances.

- Time-bound – Set within a defined period (e.g., 12 weeks, 6 months, 1 year).

- Measurable– Progress must be trackable to evaluate success.

 

Process vs. Performance Goals

 

We set two types of goals: process and performance.

 

Process Goals – Goals that you have 100% control over. These include:

- I will work out five days a week.

- I will plan and prepare my meals in advance.

- I will check in with the team six days a week.

 

Performance Goals – Goals that rely on variables outside of your complete control, such as:

- I will lose ten pounds of fat.

- I will increase my workout weights by 20%.

- I will fit into my skinny jeans.

Both types of goals are necessary and valuable.

Since achieving long-term success often requires more than one 12-week cycle, setting six-month and one-year goals will keep you focused on sustainable progress.
