That’s where SMART goals come in—a structured, intentional way to transform vague hopes into clear, actionable steps. As both a health coach and someone on this journey with you, I can say firsthand: SMART goals have changed the game.
Whether you're setting goals for fitness, nutrition, stress management, or sleep, having a SMART approach brings clarity, accountability, and momentum. It's not about perfection—it's about progress you can track.
What Are SMART Goals?
SMART is an acronym that stands for:

S – Specific: Clear and defined goals. What exactly do you want to accomplish?

M – Measurable: Make sure your goal can be tracked. How will you measure progress?

A – Achievable: Be realistic with your goals. Can you actually achieve this with your current resources?

R – Relevant: Does this goal matter to you? Is it aligned with your overall vision?

T – Time-bound: Set a deadline. When do you want to achieve this by?
My Experience with SMART Goals
I’ve used SMART goals in my own transformation and in coaching hundreds of clients in the BNC Community. The difference between success and stalling often comes down to this: Do you have a plan that moves you forward with intention?
For example, instead of saying, "I want to work out more," I set a SMART goal: "I will strength train 4 days a week for 30 minutes at 8 AM, tracked in my planner, for the next 8 weeks." See the difference? Now it’s a plan—not just a wish.
Types of SMART Goals
At BNC, we focus on setting both process and performance goals:

Process Goals are fully in your control. These are the daily and weekly habits you commit to.

Examples: "Meal prep on Sundays," or "Take a 10-minute walk after lunch daily."

Performance Goals focus on outcomes you hope to achieve—but they aren’t entirely within your control.

Examples: "Lose 10 lbs," or "Increase strength by 20%."
