For a long time, I believed that if something was not working, it was because I was not trying hard enough. So, I pushed more. I added more structure, more routines, and more expectations for myself. I thought if I could just stay consistent enough, disciplined enough, I would finally feel on top of things.
But instead of feeling better, everything just started to feel heavier. Because what I did not realize at the time is that discipline only works when you actually have the capacity to hold it.
It works when you are rested. When your life has space. When your nervous system is not overwhelmed. In those moments, discipline feels supportive. It feels like a guide not pressure. But when you are already stretched thin, discipline does not land the same way. It starts to feel like one more thing at which you are failing. One more expectation you cannot meet. And instead of helping, it creates more resistance.
That is when you know it is not what you need right now.
Because what your body is really asking for in those moments is not more effort.
It is support.
Support looks different than what we have been taught. It is not about doing everything perfectly or keeping up with a rigid plan. It is about making your life easier to move through. It might look like you simplify your routines, so your days do not feel so full. Letting go of unnecessary pressure instead of trying to rise to it. Choosing something sustainable instead of something that only works when you are at 100%.
Support means you stop working against yourself.
Because when your life is built in a way that actually supports you, you do not have to force your way through it. You do not have to rely on constant motivation or willpower just to get through the day.
Things start to feel lighter. More natural. More doable. And that’s where real change starts to happen. Not from pushing harder.
But from creating an environment that allows you to show up as you are and still move forward.
If you are not sure where to start, begin here:
Start by taking one thing off your plate instead of adding something new. That might look like skipping the extra task you told yourself you “should” get done, ordering takeout instead of cooking, or saying no to something that is not necessary this week. Even removing one small expectation can create more relief than adding another routine.
Give yourself permission to do something in an easier way. Not the perfect way the supported way. That could be doing a shorter workout instead of skipping it entirely, cleaning just one area instead of the whole house, or keeping a simple routine instead of trying to overhaul your entire day. The goal is to work with your energy, not against it.
And start paying attention to what drains you versus what steadies you. Notice what leaves you feeling tense, rushed, or depleted and what helps you feel even slightly calmer or more grounded. That awareness might guide you to take a quiet walk instead of scrolling, step outside for a minute instead of pushing through, or pause and breathe before moving on to the next thing. Those small choices are where real support starts.
Because you were never the problem.
The way you have been trying to hold everything together without enough support is what has been making it feel so hard. And if this resonates if you have been feeling like you should be doing more, but do not have the capacity to keep pushing you do not have to figure this out on your own.
This is the work I do with my clients.
We slow things down. We look at what your life actually requires of you, and we start building support around it in a way that makes it feel realistic and sustainable.
Not more pressure. Not another system you have to keep up with.
Just steady, personalized support that helps you feel more grounded, more capable, and more like yourself again.
I would genuinely love to walk with you in that. You can book coaching here: 1:1 coaching with Coach Sherri
