Active Rest Day but getting movement

Jan 30, 2025

Dungeon Time Workout 🏋️‍♀️

Another date with the dungeon gym! 💪

Tonight was an active rest day, focused on light incline work to keep the body moving without overexertion. Consistency is key! Even on lighter days, showing up to the dungeon and staying active is essential for maintaining progress in 2025. 🔥 Since it was an active rest day, the workout was purely done for movement, ensuring that my heart rate remained in the moderate target zone for optimal recovery and endurance benefits.

The Workout Breakdown:

Warm-Up 🚶‍♀️

  • Walk: 3 mph, 0% incline for 5 minutes

This helped loosen up my muscles and set the tone for a steady, controlled movement session.

Incline Alternating Walk ⛰️🔥

For the main workout, I alternated every 2 minutes between:

  • Walk at 3.0 mph, 2% incline
  • Walk at 3.0 mph, 4% incline

Total time: 20 minutes

This variation keeps the muscles engaged, improves endurance, and makes for an efficient, low-impact cardio session.

Cool-Down 💨

  • Walk: 3 mph, 0% incline for 5 minutes

Cooling down properly ensures that my heart rate gradually returns to baseline and minimizes soreness.

Why Incline Walking?

A steady incline walk might not sound intense, but it’s a perfect active recovery method! It keeps the habit strong while allowing the body to recover. Plus, it’s prepping me for outdoor summer walks up and down our hilly roads!

Final Thoughts:

Incline walking is a game-changer for endurance, cardiovascular health, and muscle engagement—without the wear and tear of high-impact workouts. Staying committed, even on rest days, is how I continue building momentum for long-term success in 2025
